I produce this show out of my own pocket, primarily because of my love of all things anime and Japan. If you feel so inclined, a small donation to help offset my costs (server, bandwidth, equipment, etc.) would be much appreciated. There are many ways you can help out.
Make a purchase through one of our affiliate links
Doing some shopping for the holidays? Maybe you’re looking to get yourself a little treat? Well, why not do so through one of our affiliate links? They cost you nothing extra.
Amazon.com
They don’t call it “earth’s biggest store” for nothing. They stock literally billions of items, including DVDs, CDs, household goods, electronics, and much much more.
The Right Stuf
Your one-stop source for anime goods. Whether it be anime DVDs, soundtrack CDs, wall scrolls, character goods, or anything else anime- or manga-related, Right Stuf has it. And don’t forget the by-now-infamous “Shawne’s Deal of the Day.”
CDjapan
Looking for a J-Pop/J-Rock or anime soundtrack CD? Frustrated at not being able to find it in your usual CD haunts? Well look no further than CDjapan, your source for import CDs directly from Japan. But they also sell other cool goods, including anime figurines and various other anime/character-related goods.
J-List
J-List — “Your friend in Japan” — has been in the business of spreading otaku culture for many years. They stock a truly awe-inspiring range of products: anime CDs and DVDs; character goods (figurines, etc.); T-shirts; anime calendars; cell phone straps; Japanese cultural items (bento boxes, chopsticks, etc.); PC and console dating-sim games; cosplay items (costumes, cat ears, etc.); and, yes, they have cough “those” kinds of products as well. Shipping is amazingly fast, and their customer service is top-notch.
Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll is, in our opinion, one of the best things to happen to the Internet-connected anime fan. Now you can get all-you-can-eat, streaming-on-demand anime and live-action dramas (J-dramas/K-dramas) on your computer, set-top box, smartphone and tablet, wherever you are, whenever you want. Most of the site is available completely free of charge, but if you are a paying member, you get some extra special perks: high quality streams (up to 720p HD); same-day simulcast (watch the episode right after it’s broadcast in Japan, complete with English subtitles!); full access to all currently-streaming titles as well as an extensive back catalog of older titles; and ad-free videos. And at prices as low as $4.99 per month, you can feel good about supporting the legitimate anime industry without spending a lot of money. (It’s certainly a lot cheaper than buying DVDs!) If you sign up for a Crunchyroll membership using our affiliate link, we’ll get a small commission. It doesn’t cost you anything extra.
Buy stuff from us on eBay
Occasionally we’ll reach a point where we need to clean our rooms and DVD shelves, and we’ll end up with a pile of stuff which we no longer need and/or don’t really want to keep around. So we decided to open up an eBay account which we will use to sell this stuff. Because as they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure…
All money made from these sales will go to benefit the podcast (pay for equipment, servers/bandwidth, cover our costs while at anime conventions, etc.).
Buy me something off my Amazon wish list
There are always things that I need for the podcast, whether it be some piece of podcasting equipment; stuff I need when covering (or giving panels/workshops) at conventions (printable business cards, laser printer toner cartridges, etc.); or a new anime title to review. Whatever you are willing to get me off this list means less money I need to spend out of pocket, which I can use instead towards paying for other things that the blog/podcast needs (equipment, servers, bandwidth, web hosting, etc.). And, of course, you will have my undying and eternal gratitude, not to mention the continuation of this blog and podcast.
In return for your generosity, I make the following promises:
- Every item you see is on this list because I need it for something relating to the podcast. Either it’s an anime or video game I want to review, or it’s something I need, for example, a new shock mount to replace the one that I have right now that’s on its last legs; or supplies that I need for giving a panel or workshop at an anime convention (e.g. office supplies, printer ink/toner, etc.). You get the idea.
- For all anime/video game type products, I promise to put up a review of it, either as a blog post/article or as part of a podcast episode. (This of course only applies to anime, video games, etc.; I don’t think you’d want to see a review of the latest HP LaserJet toner cartridge or something like that.)
Donate
If you feel so inclined, we would never turn away a donation…
